Submission Underground’s Most Dominant Champion: Mason Fowler

Who is Mason Fowler?

Mason Fowler, from team Ciao Terra in San Jose CA, is one of the best grapplers in the world. It was through playing rugby in high school that he realized his love for contact sports. He entered mixed martial arts at the age of 18 with various disciplines such as wrestling, no-gi jiu-jitsu and boxing. Six months into his training, he decided to add gi-jiu jitsu to his schedule, and soon discovered his love for grappling.

As a result of hard work, raw talent and passion for MMA, he soon became a well-known force, accumulating a record of 6 wins and 0 losses. Unfortunately, Mason eventually suffered a concussion while sparring in MMA. This unforeseen injury led to migraines and ailments that lasted over four months, eventually resulting in Mason retiring from MMA. He then began focusing on Brazilian jiu-jitsu alone. Soon after, Mason stamped his authority when he conquered his division at the 2019 ADCC West Coast Trials, becoming a force to be reckoned with.

Most recently, Mason proved his mettle at the Who’s Number One tournament against a tough Giancarlo Bodoni. During the match, Mason suffered a serious accidental eye poke and competed compromised. However, through grit, skill and experience, Mason still won the match.

Submission Underground’s Most Dominant Champion Faces His Next Test

Mason made another splash in the grappling scene by winning the Submission Underground championship in 2020. Mason has since defended his belt 7 times.

At Submission Underground, he defeated top athletes in BJJ, MMA, and even an Olympic Gold Medalist to become SUG’s most dominant champion. He’s been so dominant, that he’s been UFC Fight Pass’ 2020 MVP and received their 2021 Mid-Year Athlete Recognition.

On October 10th, Mason will make his return to SUG. He will be defending his belt against Gabriel Checco.

Mason and Foxhound

Foxhound has been working with Mason since September of 2020. At the time, Foxhound had only been on the market three months and California was in a severe statewide lockdown.

Despite burdensome state restrictions, Mason displayed the mental and physical fortitude of a champ and continued to Train Hard and Stay Sharp.

During this highly demanding training and competition schedule, Mason was looking for the right sports nutrition to keep him fueled and recovered.

At the same time, Foxhound was looking for athlete representatives who embrace its motto “Train Hard. Stay Sharp.”

Foxhound has been thrilled to provide Mason natural and effective sports nutrition for his training camps. At the same time, Mason has been an incredible representative for the brand and we’re beyond excited for his future as he dominates BJJ.
